This exercise will aim to compute the sum of shipping of the three types of lampshades: 1. Using an intermodal container, how many style A can be put? Volume of container (8 * 8.5 * 40) = 2720 cubic feet One foot equals 12 inches so volume in inches is = 4,700,160 cubic inches Volume of one packed shade cylinder 12 * 12 * 12 = 1728 cubic inches Volume of shade cylinders that can occupy container 4,700,160/1728 = 2720 shades Weight of one packed shade = 10 pounds Weight of 2720 packed shades = 27,200 pounds Using the computation above, there are 2720 shades able to put in the container, considering that the maximum weight the container can accommodate is 44,000 lbs. 2.
